The recognition of pathogen-associated nucleic acids allows the immune system to detect the presence of infectious microbes. Erroneous immune sensing of self-nucleic acids on the other hand is associated with the pathogenesis of sterile inflammatory diseases. At this conference, discussion will be about research on the molecular mechanisms and the functional consequences of innate nucleic acid recognition, giving an insight that will help develop innovative treatments for infection, inflammatory diseases and cancer.
